“I would like to acknowledge the good wishes extended to me by staff, pupils, families and governors as I begin my new role as Principal of St Patrick’s Academy.
I am delighted to welcome you to our website. Whether you are already part of the Academy community or an interested member of the public, I hope that you enjoy visiting our website and that you learn more about everything that happens in and beyond the classroom here at the Academy. We are currently reviewing our website, so you will see exciting changes to it over the next term.
Dedicated to St Patrick, the Academy has been a beacon for quality Catholic education in Dungannon since 1891. As we settle in to our new school building we work hard to be a centre of excellence for the 21st Century – in short, we want to be a modern school with traditional values.
Our website offers you a window through which you can see into all aspects of Academy life but, should you wish to visit us in person and meet some of our pupils and staff, please do not hesitate to make contact. Whether you wish to renew old friendships or to learn more about what we do, you will always be welcome. I look forward to meeting you and working with you.”
As a Catholic school, our aim is that the pupils in our care are nurtured in ‘a lived and living’ Faith. We endeavour to provide spiritual nourishment which is meaningful and enhancing in the face of ever-increasing materialism and the erosion of traditional values.
St. Patrick’s Academy was, for its first three years, a boys’ school. From September 1894, the Sisters of Mercy undertook the teaching of students in preparation for the Intermediate board’s examination.
St Patrick, patron of our school, Inspire us to bring out the best in everyone. Encourage us to use our talents to the full. Help us to respect others as much as we respect ourselves. Through your intercession, AMEN
Involves the leadership and decision-making processes of the school, including the roles of trustees, board of governors, and other key individuals such as the principal and teachers.
We have a purpose-built bus only platform at the rear of the building to accommodate the large numbers of pupils who travel to school via either Translink buses or other private bus companies.
We are honoured to be recognised as a Google for Education Reference School in recognition of our outstanding use of digital technologies to drive positive learning outcomes.
Local and national competitions are entered in all sporting activities, which are open to both male and female pupils within any year in the school.
